Senate to vote on man who defended cop-killer

The widow of a murdered Philadelphia cop told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly Thursday that she is planning to do everything she can to stop the man who got her husband’s killer spared the death penalty from being appointed to a top Justice Department post.

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved Debo Adegbile to lead the Civil Rights Division on Thursday. The nomination now goes to the full Senate for final approval.

The nominee has faced criticism for his role, as acting director of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, in getting Mumia Abu-Jamal's death sentence overturned. Abu-Jamal was convicted in the 1981 killing of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner.

Faulkner’s wife Maureen said on “The Kelly File” she is going to fight until the end to make sure Adegbile is not approved.

“I am going to do everything I can to not allow this man into the Department of Justice civil rights,” she said.

Faulkner said Adegbile’s team not only defended Abu-Jamal in his trial, but praised his character.

“It’s an absolute disgrace,” she said. “I will be in Washington and I will be in that Senate committee when this goes through.”
