Can celebrity star power boost ObamaCare enrollment?

White House recruits Hollywood heavy hitters

The ObamaCare sell-a-thon kicked into high gear yesterday on Twitter with a series of digital post-it notes created by the White House urging taxpayers to #GetCovered.  One featured a smiling President Obama holding a card.

But “Cruz Missile” wasn’t having it, and fired back.

Cruz – or more likely his hipster staff –photoshopped a creation of his own.

Y’all know what FIFY is, right?

Okay, me neither. I had to look up. Urban Dictionary says, “Acronym used in message boards, meaning "Fixed it for ya". Most often used in quoting another posters work and slightly changing it.”

At least I knew what MT meant. (Modified Tweet.)

Day Two of Boehner’s out-of-character, ‘outside voice’ retorts brought bewilderment from the Fourth Estate.

At his weekly briefing, Boehner said outside groups have “lost all credibility.”

“They pushed us into the fight to defund Obamacare and shut down the government…And the day before the government reopened, one of these groups said, ‘Well, we never thought it would work.’”

And then Boehner bellowed: “Are you kidding me???”

He was equally dismissive to a reporter.

The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza called it like he saw it, equating Boehner’s recent outbursts to the character, Howard Beale, in the 1976 movie “Network.”   Beale rants and raves on a local TV newscast  saying, “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this any more!”

The actor, Peter Finch, won a posthumous Oscar for the role. Golden Globe for Boehner?

Meanwhile, People Magazine’s Sexiest Man has his boot firmly planted in the ObamaCare camp.

Other celebs including comedian George Lopez and Tatyana Ali – best known for her role in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air  - joined yesterday in the ongoing Twitter celebrity PR campaign.

When the budget overwhelmingly passed the House last night, slack-jawed scribes took to Twitter to marvel at the miracle of Washington agreeing on anything.

Reporter Matt Laslo also expressed his surprise at the bipartisanship, saying "Holy s--- bipartisan group of 332 lawmakers agree on something!"

Washington Post’s David Beard gives us the really good news.  The National Zoo keeps its funding.

If only Congress could be as well behaved as the newly named Bao Bao.
