Ron Paul's camp ripped into both Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump Monday, moments after the two emerged from a meeting at Trump Tower with Gingrich calling "The Donald" one of America's best showmen and businessmen.
"It doesn't surprise me that Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump are fast friends: They are both elite insiders completely out of touch with the American people," Paul Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton told Fox News.
"Gingrich supported TARP and individual mandates for healthcare. Trump gave big money to Rahm Emanuel and Harry Reid, and used to advocate for single payer socialized medicine. They both support Liberal ideas and crony capitalism," he added.
Standing side-by-side with Trump, Gingrich also said he was surprised Congressman Paul flat out rejected an invitation to take part in a GOP debate the real estate mogul plans to moderate in Iowa on December 27th.
Paul says that debate will do nothing but distract voters from real issues and create a "circus-like atmosphere."
