Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will be visiting the all-important presidential politics state of Hawaii later this week. Yes, that is a joke... the Aloha State is not actually important in the presidential nominating process. The honors there go to Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
However, Gingrich is travelling the sunny vacation spot in the pacific ocean, joining the Maui GOP for a meeting with local activists in Wailuku on Saturday and discussing the American founding with students on Monday in Makawao, a village in upcountry Maui.
Also worth noting is the fact that Newt and his wife Callista will celebrate their 11th wedding anniversary on Thursday.
The couple will spend their anniversary in Hollywood, California, where they will attend a screening of ‘Nine Days that Changed the World,' a documentary about Pope John Paul II the couple co-produced.
Then the Gingrichs head to Hawaii for a few days, before Newt pops up in the more traditional campaign trail stop of New Hampshire on Thursday August 25.
