His "The Rent is Too Damn High" political party stole the show at New York's 2010 gubernatorial debates, but this year, Jimmy McMillan has his sights set higher. The karate expert and former postal worker has a revamped message, and he's taking it to the gates of the White House...literally.
"Gasoline is too damn high!" the self-identified 2012 presidential candidate proclaims from outside the White House in a new web video. The video is part of a joint campaign with Let Freedom Ring, a conservative nonprofit group, to lower gas prices and increase domestic oil production.
"Americans are simply fed up with being trapped by high gasoline prices," Colin Hanna, president of Let Freedom Ring, said in a release. "It's time to stop sitting by and watching our gas prices climb to $4 a gallon. America has the resources right here to stop this problem but no one is taking action!"
"He hasn't gotten the message that gasoline is too damn high, because he's picked up by a chauffeured limousine every day," McMillan says of the president in the video. Visitors to the web site who agree to donate $5 to the campaign receive "Gasoline Is Too Damn High" sticky notes to leave at their local gas stations.
According to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report, the national average for regular gas was just over $3.96 a gallon Wednesday morning.
