The Senate convenes at 10:00 a.m. ET to debate the START nuclear weapons reduction treaty. Members will go into a closed session in the Old Senate Chamber to debate the pact with Russia at 2:00 p.m. ET.
Another temporary government funding measure, known as a continuing resolution, could pass the Senate Monday. The proposal would fund the government through March.
There is also a chance that the Senate will approve a defense appropriations bill. The version pending before the chamber has had many controversial provisions, such as the second engine for the military's joint strike fighter, sliced out. The House adopted the plan by an overwhelming majority Friday.
