The late Rep. Jack Murtha (D-PA) was a master at bringing home the bacon to his district before he passed away unexpectedly after complications following surgery in February.
And now, Murtha's colleagues are bringing home the bacon for him.
Critics railed on Murtha for an airport in his district and other infrastructure projects.
But one earmark that caught my attention in the Senate's omnibus bill is $10 million for the "John P. Murtha Foundation."
In April, Murtha's family announced the creation of the foundation to help build a "John P. Murtha Center for Public Service" at the Johnstown Campus of the University of Pittsburgh.
Murtha's archives and public papers will be stored there. The facility will also include classrooms.
The earmark is sponsored by Reps. Robert Brady (D-PA), Chaka Fattah (D-PA), Mark Critz (D-PA, who was Murtah's district director and immediate successor in the House), Jim Moran (D-VA) and Tim Ryan (D-OH).
