Boehner Staff Wheels Birthday Cakes into GOP Leadership Meetings

Two longtime aides to House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) just wheeled not one but two very large birthday cakes into the leadership election meetings.

Today is Boehner's 61st birthday.

The cakes were covered in green icing and featured cursive script reading "Happy Birthday Mr. Speaker."

Attached to the cart were a candle "6" and "1", presumably to adorn the top of the cakes noting Boehner's 61st birthday.

In 2006 and 2008, House Republicans re-elected Boehner as their leader on this same date.

Today the GOP will elect him as their candidate for Speaker.
