Fox has learned that Pelosi did not address her plans during an hour and a half conference call with fellow House Democratic leaders this morning. The call was pre-planned before Pelosi's announcement.

On the rivalry between Clyburn and Hoyer, potentially for Whip (Hoyer has not announced yet).

From a senior leadership aide:

"They're both great leaders for the caucus. Each has their strength. It would be decided by the caucus."

The aide also notes that "Clyburn was going to run for whip, no matter what."

Fox has also learned that House Majority Leader Jim Clyburn (D-SC) was not aware of Pelosi's decision beforehand and always planned to run for whip.

I am told that some wanted and presumed Pelosi would step aside and would enable Hoyer to become Minority Leader, thus keeping Clyburn at his whip post, albeit in the minority.
