UPDATE: AP declared Rick Scott the winner for the GOP Gubernatorial Race at 1049pm EDT

HOLLYWOOD, FL -  With nearly 60 percent of the vote counted in the Florida GOP Gubernatorial primary, the outcome looks like it will come down to the wire between Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum and former health care executive Rick Scott. Scott currently leading McCollum 46 percent to 43 percent.

According to insiders the current mood at the McCollum campaign is downbeat due to several elements that failed to materialize.

-Voter turnout was lower than expected, especially the more conservative areas of the Florida panhandle

-Scott spent millions to gain traction in targeting early voting and absentee ballots

-The third candidate on the ballot, Mike McCallister, gained an unexpected 10 percent of the vote

The McCollum campaign is still holding out for votes remaining in southern florida county of Miami-Dade that have yet to be fully tallied.
