President Obama kicks off his Thursday discussing education before the National Urban League 100th Anniversary Convention. The president will discuss reforms undertaken by states and schools across the country. In an excerpt released by the White House, President Obama will tell the Urban League members, "sometimes a school's problems run so deep that better assessments, higher standards, and a more challenging curriculum aren't enough. If a school isn't producing graduates with even the most basic skills - year after year after year - something needs to be done differently. If we want success for our country, we can't accept failure in our schools." Join Row 2, Seat 4 at 10:05 am ET to watch these remarks. [foxlivestream]
Later on Thursday morning, President Obama will meet with his national security team for their monthly meeting on Afghanistan and Pakistan. This meeting comes days after WikiLeaks.org released tens of thousands of classified documents related to the war in Afghanistan. President Obama spoke about the incident earlier in the week telling reporters he was "concerned about the disclosure of sensitive information from the battlefield that could potentially jeopardize individuals or operations." The Obama administration has repeatedly downplayed the incident saying the leaked material contained information that was already known to the public.
Press Secretary Robert Gibbs will hold his briefing at 2:00p.m. ET. [foxlivestream]
