Former Georgetown University and NBA center Alonso Mourning was spotted chatting and shaking hands with senators in the Senate subway.

There were also plenty of jokes trading on the "gee whiz, you're much taller than me" meme with the former Miami Heat star.

One of the lawmakers he was chatting with was Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI), who is also the owner of the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks franchise.

The Bucks were eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs this year.

"You guys needed Bogie," Mourning said, an allusion to Milwaukee center Andrew Bogut, who suffered a gruesome arm injury near the end of the regular season.

Near the end of his professional career Mourning required a kidney transplant.
