Vice President Joe Biden is returning to Washington Wednesday afternoon where he will focus on relations with visiting Afghan President Hamid Karzai. The Vice President has been in Delaware and most recently Philadelphia with his son, Attorney General Beau Biden, who is undergoing treatment for what his doctors are calling a "mild stroke." The Attorney General entered the hospital Monday.
The Vice President is meeting Wednesday afternoon with U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry. He will also host a dinner for President Karzai at the Vice President's residence at the Naval Observatory. Stay tuned to Row 2, Seat 4 for an update from that dinner.
In a statement released through the White House, the Delaware Department of Justice says the Attorney General will "continue to follow standard protocol and receive medical therapy over the coming days, as is typical for any patient recovering from an event like this."
The younger Biden returned last year from a year long deployment to Iraq with his National Guard unit where he worked as a military lawyer. There has been no word from his doctors as to what might have caused him to suffer a mild stroke.
