President and Mrs. Obama are headed back to the US after the President picked up his Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Thursday. They will arrive at the White house at 12:55p. There are no public events on his schedule for the rest of the day, at this point.
Vice President Biden, meanwhile, is in Connecticut attending a 12:00p Hartford fundraiser for Senator Chris Dodd. However, we've just found out that the Senator himself will not be able to attend, due to the possibility of votes in the Senate today. The Senator's wife, Jackie Clegg Dodd, will replace him.
At 1:45p, the Vice President Biden will be at the East Hartford Fire Department headquarters to discuss "how Recovery Act investments are creating jobs and improving communities in Connecticut and across the country," says the White House.
More, per the White House: The East Hartford Fire Department has been awarded a $3.39 million construction grant through the Recovery Act to replace an aging satellite fire station. Earlier this week, this department successfully extinguished a massive five-alarm fire that destroyed a warehouse. The East Hartford Fire Department led the full-day effort, coordinating the fire departments of seven surrounding cities. No one was injured in the blaze. Jackie Clegg Dodd will also attend this event, along with the Vice President.
