President Obama will not ask for more Australian Troops

A White House spokesman says President Obama will not be asking Australia to add more troops to Afghanistan. The aide reminds Fox that Australia announced a 40% increase in their troop commitment in the Spring.

The White House spokesman says he expects the leaders to discuss a range of important global challenges, including climate change, in the run-up to Copenhagen, and Afghanistan. PM Rudd and the President have consulted closely on climate change, most recently in Singapore on the margins of APEC. The two leaders will update each other on their recent discussions, the President from his recent trip to Asia and the PM from last week's meetings in Port of Spain.
