The Republican senator from Kentucky is lagging behind in fundraising for his next year's reelection bid.

Kentucky Sen. Jim Bunning is reporting that he raised $302,466 from April through June for his re-election next year, less than a fellow Republican who may run for his seat.

Republican Trey Grayson, Kentucky's secretary of state who says he is looking at a possible Senate run, raised more than $600,000 during the same period.

Democrat Jack Conway has eclipsed them both, raising $1.3 million since he entered the race in April.

Grayson and Republican Rand Paul are positioning themselves to run if Bunning pulls out of the race. The 77-year-old senator has left open the possibility that he may withdraw if his own fundraising doesn't improve.

Bunning has raised a total of $1.2 million since he narrowly won re-election in 2004.
