About 250 D.C. teachers have lost their jobs this week, as Chancellor Michelle Rhee followed through on promises to dismiss instructors deemed ineffective.

Union officials say the fired employees include both tenured and novice teachers and were dismissed for poor performance or failure to obtain a license.
