White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says that while he has not spoken to Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor about her choice of words in the 2001 remarks - "I would hope that a wise Latina woman, with the richness of her experiences, would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life," he is certain Sotomayor would say her word choice was "poor."
Gibbs reiterated what he's said over the past few days, that her experiences are relevant to the process of judging and personal experiences make you more aware of certain facts and cases.
When asked how he knew Sotomayor would say her word choice was "poor," Gibbs replied he's had discussions with people who have spoken with the nominee about it.
