Supreme Court Nominee Calls Senate Members

Newly nominated for the Supreme Court, Judge Sonia Sotomayor called Senators in what is deemed the first part of the nomination process.  Judge Sotomayor placed courtesy calls to Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid (NV) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (KY).  She also called two leading members of the Senate Judiciary Committee who will pose questions to her during her nomination grilling - Chairman Patrick Leahy (VT) and Ranking Member Jeff Sessions (AL).

Judge Sotomayor will begin meeting with Senators in person once they return from their recess next week.
