As Arkansas native Kris Allen prepares to face off against Adam Lambert of Los Angeles during Wednesday's final episode of "American Idol," Sen. Mark Pryor of Arkansas said he's proud of his home-state contestant, whatever the outcome.

Pryor, a Democrat, told FOXNews.com that he has high hopes for Allen, whom he called a "phenom."

"With talent, determination and hard work, he has leapfrogged past the competition. Arkansans have been cheering him on at watch parties throughout our state. I'll be rooting for him tonight, along with millions of Americans. Win or lose, he's made us proud," Pryor said Wednesday.

Sens Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer did not answer requests for comment about Lambert, their state's favorite.
