Mayor Sheila Dixon's first public appearance since being indicted on theft and perjury charges was a lively one.
Dixon donned boxing gloves Saturday morning and participated in cardio-kickboxing to publicize a new physical fitness campaign.
But it didn't go as smoothly as planned. Dixon and a dozen other people punching and jumping was more than the boxing ring at a west Baltimore gym could handle. The ring collapsed after about 3 minutes. No one was hurt, and everyone climbed out and continued their workout on the gym floor.
Asked whether she was thinking about State Prosecutor Robert Rohrbaugh while she threw punches, Dixon said she was only thinking about exercise.
She made no explicit reference to the indictment but said working out regularly helps her confront life's challenges.
