U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey has recused himself from the ongoing Bernard Madoff investigation, FOX News has learned.
The Justice Department confirmed Mukasey's recusal but offered no reason, citing standard policy.
Mukasey's son, Marc Mukasey, is reportedly representing a Madoff official.
Madoff, a former Nasdaq chairman, allegedly stole $50 billion in a Ponzi scheme from a number of prestigious charitable foundations, big international banks and individual investors.
