Top Five Recent Engagement Ring Styles

  • Antique or Estate-Inspired Designs: These styles are reminiscent of estate pieces with the use of smaller accent diamonds, detailed filigree and other intricate setting details. Antique and estate-inspired pieces also feature an increased popularity of older diamond cuts such as old miner, cushion cut and asscher cut diamonds.
  • East-West Settings: This type of setting features its diamonds horizontally, in the 'east-west' direction instead of the traditional vertical or 'north-south' setting.
  • Split Shank Settings: This setting involves the shank of the ring (or in layman's terms, the band portion). The band is essentially split in half (or in threes) giving air between the metal and making a wider setting more dainty in look. This setting style also gives an antique look to the ring.
  • Colored Diamonds: Colored stones, particularly fancy yellow and pink diamonds, are more rare than the traditional natural white diamond and are therefore considered more unique and thus more expensive. Colored diamonds have been popularized by celebrities.
  • There is also increased demand for new accent stones for the center diamond such as trapezoid diamonds, bullets, kites and pear diamonds.
