GretaPix: Iraqi Election Polling Site

  • For obvious reasons, security is tight at the Iraqi polling site. This is Rex. He is a bomb specialist.
  • As you approach the hotel where the poll is, you see signs guiding you. It seems very ordinary for a very extraordinary event.
  • Obvious close up on hotel entrance door. The polling is around the building -- you can't use the front hotel door.
  • My security badge that I had to wear for our tour of the polling site. Yes, my name is not spelled correctly, but close enough.
  • The registration area in what seems like the basement of the hotel (you register now and return in a few days to vote in this same space.)
  • There are about 15 different registration/voting areas. This is a close up of one.
  • These pics hang throughout the voting area. Not sure what they mean or say -- they are in Arabic and Kurdish.
  • Two poll workers who agreed to have their pics taken.
  • More poll workers
  • More poll workers
  • Another pic of the registration and voting area.
  • Another angle of the voting area.
  • 'The Crew' who taped our 'walk around' which you will see on our show. Note, we are showing you what no one else is.
  • Jeremy Copeland who is managing the election for International Organization for Migration. He gave us the tour and explained the registration and voting procedure.
