  • In the second major waterfowl die-off in less than nine months, several hundred dead birds have washed up in recent weeks along Little Galloo Island and the eastern coast of Lake Ontario. The culprit: Type E avian botulism, a deadly toxin. Dead birds are marked with spray paint in an effort to keep track of their numbers.
