• March 19: The Airbus A 380 is refueled and prepared prior to taking off bound for New York at the airport in Frankfurt. For plane builder Airbus and German airline Lufthansa AG, the A380's first flight to North America, is a chance to show off the superjumbo to potential U.S. buyers and to the airports they hope will be flight bases for the double-decker jet. Some 550 people, including four pilots, four Airbus crew members, 23 Lufthansa cabin crew and 519 passengers, mostly Airbus and Lufthansa employees along with some reporters, were onboard.
• March 19: An Andy Warhol portrait of Marilyn Monroe called 'Lemon Marilyn', 1962 is hung at Christie's auction rooms in London. The portrait which was purchased by a US collector for $250 in 1962 and remained in the same ownership for nearly 45 years, is being auctioned at Christie's New York on May 16 2007 and is expected to realize in excess of $15 million.
• March 19: The 36-year-old supermodel Naomi Campbell was expected to push a broom or mop at the Manhattan garage to fulfill her sentence for community service for throwing a cell phone at her maid over a pair of missing jeans.
• March 19: Activists of Jamaat-e-Ulema and Indian police engage in a street fight during a protest rally against the police and the death of farmers in Nandigram, in Calcutta, India. Police clashed with activists who are protesting against acquisition of farmland for industry
• March 19: Models wear clothes designed by Chinese fashion institute graduates during a fashion show in Beijing, China. The Chinese capital is hosting the 10th China Fashion week which seeks to showcase original design from across a country often criticized for producing cheap copies of designer goods.
• March 19: People evacuate a wounded person from a car bombing scene in Kirkuk, Iraq, 290 kilometers (180 miles) north of Baghdad. Four blasts rocked Kirkuk in a 35-minute period in different parts of town killing at least 12 people and wounding more than 30.
