For plane builder Airbus and German airline Lufthansa AG, the A380's first flight to North America, is a chance to show off the superjumbo to potential U.S. buyers and to the airports they hope will be flight bases for the double-decker jet. Some 550 people, including four pilots, four Airbus crew members, 23 Lufthansa cabin crew and 519 passengers, mostly Airbus and Lufthansa employees along with some reporters, were onboard.
  • March 19: An Andy Warhol portrait of Marilyn Monroe called 'Lemon Marilyn', 1962 is hung at Christie's auction rooms in London. The portrait which was purchased by a US collector for $250 in 1962 and remained in the same ownership for nearly 45 years, is being auctioned at Christie's New York on May 16 2007 and is expected to realize in excess of $15 million.

  • March 19: People evacuate a wounded person from a car bombing scene in Kirkuk, Iraq, 290 kilometers (180 miles) north of Baghdad. Four blasts rocked Kirkuk in a 35-minute period in different parts of town killing at least 12 people and wounding more than 30.
