The woman whose 911 call about a possible burglary led to the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. says she chose her words carefully when talking to police. Lucia Whalen broke her silence today at a news conference where she said she'd been hurt by the racial controversy following the black professor's arrest at his home. Tapes of the call revealed that Whalen didn't mention race. Her spokeswoman, attorney Wendy Murphy, noted that she hadn't been invited to join the president at the White House tomorrow for what's being billed as "the beer summit." President Obama has invited Professor Gates and the Sgt. Crowley to join him for a beer to discuss the incident at the professor's house.
