The withdrawal of Thomas Daschle as nominee for Secretary of HHS reminds me of the song from the musical "Chicago" -- "He Had It Coming."

Even people with short memories will recall how Daschle, as Senate Majority Leader, frequently blocked the nominations of Republican presidents -- often for the most trivial of reasons -- such as a president's refusal to turn over internal and private memoranda that would have allowed Democrats to go on a fishing expedition to achieve their political ends.

The country is better off without Daschle as HHS Secretary.
