So a 19-year-old student with a learning disability was allegedly raped at this weekend's "Occupy Cleveland" rally.
Right now, a reporter calls it a "she said," without the "he said."
And he's right.
But that's not what I want to talk about.
I want to focus on how the media bends over backwards to protect the protest, because they share their assumptions.
Here, the reporter for WKYC, a local NBC affiliate, tells us what the big question is.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP FROM WKYC)
TOM BERES, SENIOR POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT: The big question is how much damage will this do to all the work that's been done and the future of the occupation."
(END VIDEO CLIP)
No, dude, the big question is where is the perp, you moron.
Still, the reporter managed to find someone who questions the motives of the victim.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP FROM WKYC)
UNIDENTIFIED PROTESTER: Somebody probably brought her here, set her here, and spend the night, or hang out with her for one day, just to say she was raped."
(END VIDEO CLIP)
And you know he calls himself a feminist.
Once again, the reporters hammer home the real point of the story.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP FROM WKYC)
UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: So again, the question, how much damage with this ugly allegation do?
BERES: So this allegation does put a cloud on the group's activities, its permit for public square runs out Friday.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
And so, we see another ball dropped by the media.
They let Obama into office with softball coverage which many now freely admit to doing.
And now the media's operating as a PR team for the "Occupy Wall Street" crew, worrying how an ugly crime might affect a movement.
So what are the consequences for that?
Again, we don't know if the rape occurred, but shouldn't that be the big question? Not how it affects an event that makes reporters feel fuzzy all over.
So how does this end?
Maybe when the protesters decide to occupy the media.
Let's see how long the New York Times and the major networks carry the water for these goofballs when their own necks are on the line.
But it ain't going to happen.
Because one thing trust fund babies know -- never bite the hand that feeds you.
And if you disagree with me, you are a racist homophobe.
