      Lots of tributes and memorials today to country's fighting men and women. We'll weave in and out of several live events including the President laying a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown soldier. .

      1100EDT -- POTUS participates in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown soldiers followed by a remembrance ceremony at Arlington Natl Cemetery. LIVE

      Vice President and Dr. Biden will travel to Arlington National Cemetery, where the President will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and deliver remarks. During the President's remarks, the First Lady and Dr. Biden will be seated with children of fallen service members who traveled to Washington, DC, to participate in the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) 20th Annual Good Grief Camp.

      President Obama also traveled to Afghanistan over the weekend for a surprise visit to our troops on duty in the war-torn country. The President promised America would be there for them. He also apparently talked to outgoing Afghan President Hamid Karzai who got praise from President Obama for progress in the Afghan Army. Still no deal though to keep U.S. forces there long-term.

      Pope Francis has been on an historic trip to the Mideast. Today he called Muslims "brother," and said they must never abuse God's name with violence. On this third day of his pilgrimage he visited the Dom of the Rock, the third holiest spot for Islam. The Pope made headlines by inviting the Palestinian and Israeli Presidents to travel to the Vatican. Both leaders accepted. The Pope also traveled directly to the Palestinian territories and called the territories a state of "Palestine."

      Investigators in Southern California trying to piece together what happened and why in Isla Vista, California Friday night. 22 year old Elliot Rodger stabbed his 3 roomates to death before going on a shooting rampage around the college town. UC Santa Barbara students are in shock. In all, six are dead and another 13 are hurt. The gunman, the sun of a prominent Hollywood director, left a rambling manifesto and youtube rant before killing himself. Dominic Di-Natale and Claudia Cowan reporting.

      A massive wildfire burning in Alaska. Folks forced to evacuate 1000 structures.

      There was a big mudslide in Colorado. Three people are feared missing under the muck.

      New reports on HC suggest more insurance companies are going to jump into the exchanges next year.

      Ukraine held a presidential election electing a billionaire businessman in a strong show for democracy. Eastern Ukraine didn't participate. Russians are being surprisingly quiet so far. The Russian FM did say direct talks between Russia and Ukraine's new leader are appropriate without Western meddling.

      Surprising strength from nationalist and anti-EU parties in parliamentary elections that happened across Europe.. could be an important development.

      Egyptians set to vote for President beginning today. Military man Marshal Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi is expected to win handily. He deposed Muslim Brotherhood president Morsi.

      Oscar Pistorius arrived at a mental facility today to begin a period of mental evaluation. His murder trial is on hold until the evaluation is complete.
