• WH News Conf at 11:40am - Will POTUS Get Benghazi Questions?

President Obama holds an 11:40 news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the White House. We'll take parts of it live. The President and Merkel will address the growing tensions with Russia over Ukraine.

The Ukrainians launched a major offensive against pro-Russian forces today. At least 3 are dead. Two Ukrainian choppers shot down. Russia says it means the last hope for an accord signed in Geneva is dead. (Not that the Russians were sticking to it anyway.) There's growing concerns Russia will simply invade Eastern Ukraine as it did in Crimea.

The President also likely to get questions on the growing controversy over the terror attack on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya in September of 2012 that left 4 Americans dead. Carney got grilled on Benghazi again yesterday, and the White House actions in the wake of the terror attack are drawing a fresh round of questions with an email from Ben Rhodes coming to light.

During testimony at a House hearing yesterday, a former General said the U.S. military didn't even try to save the Americans under attack. Retired Air Force Brigadier General Robert Lovell said "we should have tried" to send in the military. But his testimony has been criticized by some high ranking government officials who say he didn't have the knowledge to talk about military options at the time.

New Obamacare numbers. The White House now says more than 8 million people signed up for insurance under the Affordable Care Act. It also said about 28% of the enrollees were in the 18-34 age bracket with a large number of young folks signing up at the last minute. That's good news for the stability of the exchanges.

We get April unemployment numbers today along with a read on factory orders and more corporate earnings reports. Analysts expect 210,000 jobs were added in April sending the unemployment rate down to 6.6%.

Police in Minnesota foiled a major mass murder plot by a 17 year old to blow up his school and kill his family and fellow students. We'll have the details.

The teenager who allegedly killed a girl at his high school who refused to go to the prom with him will be in court today. The young man is being tried as an adult for stabbing the girl to death.

Two troopers in Alaska were murdered while on duty. A man is in custody.
