• Thursday September 12, 2013 Happening Now - Putin Lectures U.S. - "Humiliating Period for U.S. & Pres Obama"?

Secretary of State John Kerry and a team of U.S. experts will have two days of meetings in Geneva with Russian officials on the Russian proposal to secure Syria's chemical weapons. Russia's President has penned a controversial editorial in the New York Time directed at Americans. In it, he argues against American involvement in conflicts around the world and suggests there's no such thing as American exceptionalism:

I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States' policy is "what makes America different. It's what makes us exceptional." It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord's blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.

Meantime, Syrian rebels are rejecting the idea of a Russia-supervised chemical weapons roundup outright. There are several hearings on the Hill on Syria today. We'll monitor.
