Sen. Jeff Flake joined us on the show today and discussed his unconventional Memorial Day weekend vacation.

He took his two youngest sons, Tanner (15) and Dallin (13) to a deserted island.

Their only tools: hammocks, spear, snorkel gear, hatchet, magnifying glass, desalinator, and a satellite phone (at the insistence of his wife).

The Flakes swam with sharks in order to spear fish to eat and built campfires by using a magnifying glass to create a spark. Their other source of food? Sen. Flake says they ate "a lot of coconuts".
