The man behind the disclosures about the nation's surveillance programs including the government's examination of phone records and emails of everyday Americans has come forward. He's revealed himself to be not a high-ranking official, but a 29-year-old worker for a defense contractor. Edward Joseph Snowden is in a Hong Kong hotel room after revealing he is the source for a series of leaks about America's spy agencies. The young man says the American public has a right to know what security agencies are up to. Snowden could face prosecution and potentially many years in prison for leaking classified information.
The top Democrat on the House panel investigating the IRS targeting scandal says the Republican-led committee looking into the matter is quashing evidence that contradicts their belief the Obama Administration did something wrong. Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings says California Congressman Darrell Issa is withholding information and making accusations without proof. Mike Emanuel reporting.

A crazed gunman went on a killing spree in Santa Monica, CA over the weekend. A 23 year old killed his brother and father at a home, and then loaded up on guns and ammo and went on a murder spree that ended with his death at the Santa Monica City College. Five are dead. Police are investigating the motive, and trying to figure out where the disturbed young man got his weapons. Adam Housley reporting.
