      The drama in the desert continues to unfold in Algeria. Details remain sketchy, but Britain now says it is expecting bad news on its hostages. Al Qaeda terrorists took at least several dozen hostage at an oil facility in Algeria supposedly in retaliation for French bombing of Mali. Americans are among those who were kidnapped. At least one American has escaped. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta saying this morning at a speech in London, ``Terrorists should be on notice that they will find no

      sanctuary, no refuge, not in Algeria, not in North Africa, not anywhere. Those who would wantonly attack our country and our people will have no place to hide.''

      Lance Armstrong admitting to doping in a long interview with Oprah Winfrey last night. He apparently did not, though, admit he intimidated others into doing steroids. He did not have a good reason for lying so adamantly for so long about the use of performance-enhancing drugs. We'll go through some of the ugly details.

      There's also new developments in the Manti T'eo case. TMZ reporting he knew his supposed girlfriend didn't exist as early as December, but didn't come clean for the "sake of the team." That has not been confirmed, but adds another layer to this strange tale. An AP review now showing he spoke about her twice after he and the University say he learned she wasn't real.

      Parts of the Southeast digging out from snow or cleaning up after heavy rain. It's looking the inauguration on Monday will be bitter cold.
