      The Israelis are pounding Gaza City with ordinance. Some 85 missiles have exploded within the past hour in Gaza City as the escalation in hostilities continues to ramp up. Yesterday there was a terror attack on the outskirts of Tel Aviv. Israel is targeting sites they say militants are using to launch rockets at Israeli territory. A temporary cease-fire is being called for as Egypt's Prime Minister is due to visit.. Leland Vittert is reporting and we'll talk to former advisor to six Secretaries of State Aaron Miller today.

      President Obama meets with Congressional leaders today on the fiscal cliff, the debt and tax policy. Top Republicans and Democrats will be at the White House during our hours, and we may get comments afterwards.

      The President also meeting with civil rights leaders and other organizations to get their input on fiscal cliff negotiations.

      Meantime, there is growing support for a suggestion by former presidential candidate Mitt Romney to limit all tax deductions to $50M. The Tax Policy Center suggests it would raise $760B over 10 years.

      Former CIA director David Petraeus testifies on the Hill today before two committees - one in the Senate, one in the House. These are closed to the press, and are expected to focus on the terror attack on Americans in Benghazi *not* on the sex scandal that led to his resignation a week ago today.

      Casey Stegall reporting today on an horrific accident in Texas. A freight train slammed into a parade float carrying wounded vets. Four are dead, another 17 injured.

      Rick Leventhal is in the hard-hit Rockaways in NYC where residents say their darkened homes are being robbed. Policy choppers now being used to try and prevent crime.
