The big story today is the intensifying standoff with Iran. U.N. inspectors have arrived in Iran for a second series of meetings. But Iran has cut off oil sales to several European countries and leaders privately concede little is likely to come of the meetings. Meantime, the U.S. and Europe doing a full court press trying to prevent Israel from a pre-emptive strike against Iran. Israel has made it clear that it is pondering a military attack. Both the U.K. foreign minister and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs here in the U.S. urging Israel *not* to do anything rash. The U.S. National Security Advisor has held high level meetings with the Israelis.. It's becoming increasingly fraught.
Oil prices hit 105 dollars a barrel in international trading. That could end up having a big impact on the U.S. economy.
