• The "Cowboy Code"

"Live each day with courage." "Always finish what you start." These are just a few principles that could soon be the law of the land in Montana.

Based on the 10-point cowboy code pulled from the book Cowboy Ethics by James P. Owen, the "Code of the West" is the brainchild of Jim Peterson, Montana Senate President (R-Buffalo).

He lassoed the approval of the Montana Senate on Monday but has a few more hurdles to jump before the code becomes law.

Governor Brian Schweitzer warns it faces his veto because he won't sign frivolous bills.

What do you think of the "Code of the West"?

      (1) Live each day with courage. (2) Take pride in your work. (3) Always finish what you start. (4) Do what has to be done. (5) Be tough, but fair. (6) When you make a promise, keep it. (7) Ride for the brand. (8) Talk less and say more. (9) Remember that some things aren't for sale. (10) Know where to draw the line.
