• Question of the Day

White House economic adviser Lawrence Summers is stepping down from his position as National Economic Council Director. The whys of it aren't completely clear. Some say he had to hurry back to Harvard before he exceeded his leave of absence and lost his tenure. Others say he had expected to be named Treasury Secretary or Federal Reserve Chairman and that never happened. Regardless, Summers is saying farewell to the White House and someone needs to take his place.

A couple of names are floating around.

      • Meg Whitman -- Whitman is currently spending big bucks running as a Republican for California's governor's seat, but before that she served as eBay's CEO.
      • Carly Fiorina --Like Whitman, she's running for office in California. This Republican wants to be Senator. Prior to her political aspirations, she served as Chairman & CEO of Hewlett Packard.
      • Laura Tyson -- Tyson already knows the job. She was the NEC director under President Clinton. Currently she works with President Obama as part of the Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
      • Anne Mulcahy -- Mulachy serves on President Obama's Economic Advisory Board. Before that she was CEO of Xerox Corp.

Who do you think should take over as President Obama's economic right-hand (wo)man? Why? Leave your answers in the comments section or e-mail us at happeningnow@foxnews.com
