Looks like Roseanne Barr is in the limelight again and it won't just be in Hollywood. In August 2011, Barr announced she seeking the presidential nomination for the Green Party on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
She's had a successful, but bumpy career in Hollywood, including her hit show "Roseanne" running from 1988 to 1997, in which it stayed in the top ten in the Nielson ratings. Once it ended though, her career slowly declined due to her outrageous social life and controversial commentary in Hollywood and politics.
However, now since she's running for the Green Party, she feels she has a little more freedom to speak her mind. In a recent interview with Politicker, Barr said the main reason she's running is because she feels both candidates, Romney and Obama are "total buffoons" and that she is the "only serious comedian in this race."
Barr is running against three or four others in her party, including Dr. Jill Stein, someone who's been a Green Party candidate since the early 2000's. According to GP.org, Dr. Stein is leading with 143 party delegates, in comparison to 40 party delegates for Ms. Barr. She mentioned in the interview that she was hoping her sitcom, "Downwardly Mobile," would get picked up, and that she will be making a documentary with director Michael Moore, on what it's like to run for president.
She also said she would be interested in doing something with Fox, but it would not be similar to shows like "Hannity," where there is intense analysis of our top political officials. She thought Fox could use a leftist point of view and would also be very "fair and balanced."
