The Underground Railroad for North Korean Defectors

Hosted by Bill Hemmer

In their quest for freedom, North Korean refugees need not only have to escape their own country, but also China. The Chinese government has a 'zero tolerance' policy on North Koreans being in their country. If caught, Koreans are sent back to face servere punishment and possible death. The 'underground railroad' - a network of safe house and secret routes - exists to help them get out of China and then to freedom, most often to South Korea.
