Each event is set to feature performances from some of the top musical acts in the business (no doubt performing a few tunes from Obama's official Spotify playlist). What most of us will be waiting for, however, is the moment Barack and Michelle step onto the dance floor. If celebrations past are any indication, the president will wear his finest tux and the first lady will get decked out in a spectacular ball gown.

Mrs. Johnson's yellow satin gown and sable-trimmed coat were designed by John Moore and reportedly chosen because she thought the style would age well.
The Kennedys, 1961
Newly-elected President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy leave the White House in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 20, 1961, for a series of visits to inaugural balls.
For her debut, Mrs. Kennedy chose an off-white sleeveless silk chiffon gown, designed by Ethel Frankau of Bergdorf Custom Salon, along with a matching cape. The dress was designed with input from the first lady.
