Miami custom car guru is the man celebrities see to trick out their whips

From MLB superstars to boxers to R&B singers to Justin Bieber, Alex Vega is the man to see to trick out your Lamborghini, Range Rover or Jeep. If you’ve got the dough, he’s got the rims, tailored interior and sound system to set your whip apart from the rest.

Fox News Latino spoke with Vega on his way back from spring training, where he was meeting with players such as New York Mets slugger Yoenis Céspedes, a client who originally met with Vega to customize his Mercedes GL three-seater – his family car.

“He loves unique colors, and tailored interior and big sound,” Vega, who's shop is the Auto Firm in Miami, said. After he tricks out the cars, he refers them to "Avorzas," which combines his initials with the Italian word for force, "forza."

Vega has become a ubiquitous presence at spring training. Outfitting cars like Céspedes’ latest Polaris Slingshot. The three-wheel Slingshot was fit with a nine-inch screen and air-ride suspension – which lifted the car three inches off the road – and a 12-speaker audio system.

Which pales in comparison to what Akon wanted.

Vega says his custom truck/music studio was probably the most expensive and complicated project he's ever worked on. “It’s a truck with chassis attached with a music studio inside it. It cost Akon $400,000." The whole thing took Vega more than four months.

Bieber saw Akon's movable studio and wanted one of his own.

On the other hand, Vega said, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was more impatient. “Mayweather wanted his vehicle tricked out fast," he said. "He wrote me a check for $100K.”

Vega’s first celebrity client was the former Atlanta Braves outfielder Andruw Jones. “He saw a Bentley like his, but he wanted it to look different,” Vega said.

Prices for these custom rides vary depending on the car. Vega says he’s made-over cars for as little as $2,400.

And it’s not just guys who go for souped-up cars, Vega said. He tricked out the Jeep of Eddie Murphy’s ex wife, Nicole.
