Before & After: One-Weekend Bathroom Refresh

With the warm season starting, I’ve become obsessed with all things white.

So I’ve returned to my rental white walls in the bathroom, which feels so fresh and clean for summer.

I used the same color on the baseboard and moldings so I didn’t need to worry about that clean line of paint as the color changes (the most frustrating part of a painting job to a self-proclaimed lazy perfectionist).

If you go for colored paint with white baseboards, a paint edger is useful.

I collect and reuse the plastic covers from my dry cleaner and tape them down to the floor and around my sink/toilet with painter’s tape, mainly because I like to find a way to reuse that plastic. If drops do make their way to my tile floor, I am grateful for the fact that I used latex vs. oil-based paint. After it dries, I am able to easily peel the paint right off surfaces.

Below are some great tips from our archives if you’re ready to tackle a bigger painting job (I like the idea of craft paper for floors too). One final thing: make sure to wear an old hat and plastic gloves to keep yourself paint-free as well.
