Tired of always looking tired? Have you tried every concealer and makeup trick in the book but can't seem to erase those under eye circles? It might be time to take things to the next level.
By using a new filler called Belotero, New York City-based Dermatologist and Dermatologic Surgeon Paul Jarrod Frank, M.D. of the Fifth Ave Dermatology Surgery & Laser Center, shows us how doctors can instantly reduce the appearance of the circles. The quick and easy procedure can “dramatically enhance the area by filling the hollow and thickening the skin,” says Dr. Frank.
Some of us are more susceptible to the unsightly rings than others, particularly those with a “deeper set eyes and darker or thinner skin,” says Dr. Frank. “Environmentally, thinning of skin, chronic fatigue and sun damage play a large role,” he adds.
The new filler is "supposed to 'flow' more easily because its consistency is less particulate," says Michelle Copeland, M.D. Therefore, it’s easier to inject in those “superficial fine lines.”
The procedure, which lasts up to a year and costs between $600 and $1200, is non-invasive and most patients can carry on with their normal activities immediately following treatment. However, Dr. Copeland warns that the under eye area is prone to bruising and swelling, "so patients need to be aware that it may not be such a 'quick fix.'”
