Does sweating through the summer weather wreak havoc on your skin? We asked Dr. Naila Malik, cosmetic medicine specialist and creator of Naila MD Skincare, for her tips on how to get clear skin during the hot, humid summer months.

Pick the right cleanser: People should make sure they are using the right cleanser for their skin type. A cleanser with alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) is great for keeping skin energized, removing excess oils, refining pores and improving skin with a light exfoliation. You should use this twice a day. If you find that it's too drying, use a more gentle cleanser in the morning.

Moisturize: Even if you have oily skin, don’t skip moisturizer. Your skin needs hydration, and a lightweight moisturizer that's oil-free is your best bet. Look for one that absorbs easily into skin and locks in moisture without leaving skin feeling greasy. You can also opt for an even lighter-weight skin gel.

Use SPF every day: Wear sunscreen every day (even if there are clouds in the sky). Choose an oil-free product with a minimum SPF of 15. Apply sunscreen over or under makeup before heading out in the morning, and re-apply every few hours if you plan to be outside all day. Try and find a product containing zinc or avobenzone which will help block UVA rays.
