This $4.99 app just might make it worthwhile to let your Mom borrow your iPhone. Released on Thursday by QuestVisual and available through iTunes, Word Lens uses your phone’s camera to translate English writing into Spanish, or vice versa, in real time. Check out the video:
As per usual, commentors say the translations are a little clunkier than it seems here—it's word-per-word, for example, but that’s still probably good enough to help Tia Pina go shopping or to send along with Mom so she can go sight-seeing while you’re at work. And little old Latinas using augmented reality is just cool. Word.
