Rainier Cherry 'tree-to-table' recipes

Today is National Rainier Cherry Day, celebrating the six-week season of this Pacific Northwest fruit. Rainier cherries are the yellow cherry blushed with red that have a sweet, delicate flavor.  They're not just great for snacking, they're also fabulous in dishes. Here are some of the restaurants that were selected to create recipes to honor the Northwest cherries --only available for a limited time.

Recipe: Cherry Chocolate Strudel

Executive chef Bernhard Mairinger at the Austrian restaurant puts a simple twist on a traditional strudel. The rainier cherries will sure to be a sweet addition to an already great recipe. Check out there menu for other interesting and eclectic eats.

Don't mess with Texas. Quail and cherries doesn’t see like the most likely mixture, but executive chef Jonathan Gelman created this dish, and it is definitely delicious.

Created by executive pastry chef Stacy Marie Fortner, this jam is a terrific garnish to any recipe. In any case, Serious Pie has received the honor of being the restaurant chosen from Northwest Cherries’ home state, and their cherry recipes will most certainly live up to expectations.
