Coca Cola invents selfie bottle to woo snap happy millennials

If you’re a soda sipping selfie fan, Coca Cola has something new for you.

In an effort to stay relevant with drinkers of all ages, the soda-maker has introduced a new “selfie bottle” that automatically takes photos while you drink.

How does it work, exactly? 

There's a camera positioned in the base of the Coke bottle; it activates when the bubbly is tipped 70 degrees, ad industry site The Drum reports. The photos can then instantly be shared on Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat.

That’s assuming you took the shot correctly and didn’t just aim at your chin or ears.

It’s not the first time a food or beverage brand has tried to take advantage of the selfie craze.

In Sept. 2015, Cinnamon Toast Crunch unveiled their “selfie spoon,” a part spoon, part selfie-stick device. Eaters were asked to attach their cell phone to one end as they munched on their favorite meals-- and cereal, of course.

The first batch of those selfie spoons (provided for free if customers paid for shipping and handling) were quickly snatched up.

As for the Coke selfie bottle, it's currently only available in Israel. The product was created by advertising agency Gefen for Coca-Cola as part of its Summer Love outdoor festival. But no word yet on whether Coke plans to spread to sipping selfie love around the globe.
