Looking for the perfect private family retreat? Former Colorado Rockies pitcher Aaron Cook might have the answer for you. He just dropped the price on his Golden, CO, home to $1.89 million.

A stalwart starter in the notoriously thin air of Denver, Cook spent 10 years with the Rockies and made the All-Star team in 2008. Arm troubles cut short his MLB career after he spent the 2012 season with the Boston Red Sox, but he did attempt a comeback in 2014.

His home -- an 8,506-square-foot spread -- feels remote despite having a central location a mere 15 miles from downtown Denver.

"By design it is an extremely private property. You enter into a courtyard. The main home is protected by a gateway and a separate villa," says listing agent Chip Parrish.

Inside, the home has a traditional-meets-lodge style. For example, in the kitchen, a massive rock archway gives the traditional space with high-end finishes a rustic feel.

In the dining room, rock walls blend with the hardwood floor and tray ceiling while an oversize chandelier allows you to dine in dramatic fashion.

The home also has plenty of big bedrooms (seven to be exact), walk-in closets, bathrooms big enough to sleep in, and plenty of open living spaces, but that isn't even the best part.

The best part: The home was built for fun. If you want to stay indoors during the winter months, you'll have a gym, sauna, wet bar, rec room, and home theater to play around in.

When you're ready to head outside, there's a heated pool with a 30-foot waterslide. Plus a covered kitchen complete with fireplace and access to 100 miles of trails.

"It really is kind of a family dream home. That is really why they built it. From a family entertaining standpoint it is amazing," says Parrish.
